Cubs

Cubs (8-10½)

A Cub Scout Pack can have up to 36 Cub Scouts and is split into smaller groups called Sixes. Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenging. A Cub Scout meeting consists of a wide variety of activities with plenty of time spent outdoors – every activity undertaken is planned to contribute to gaining the most important badges leading to the ultimate goal of earning the Chief Scouts Silver Award.

Have a look at our ‘Cubs News‘ for examples of what we have been doing.

Chief Scout Silver Award

A Cub pack is traditionally linked to Rudyard Kiplings ‘Jungle Book’. The Cub Scout Leader is refered to as ‘Akela’ – the Wolf, hence all the young people are ‘Cubs’.

All leaders generally adopt a Jungle Book Character as their ‘Scout Name’.

The Cubs Scout Promise

On joining a Cub Scout pack – All Cubs are Invested – this involves making a promise (there are different variants for various religions)

I promise that I will do my best
to do my duty to God and to serve the King,
to help other people
and to keep the Cub Scout Law.
